Miroslav Gospel, Miroslavljevo jevanđelje – birds

This is our rendition of the famous Miroslav Gospel (Miroslavljevo jevanđelje). It is a laser engraved and colored mixed media (oil and acrylic) art piece on a 13-inch live edge cherry wood board. The Miroslav Gospel is one the oldest Serbian liturgy texts and was commissioned in 1186 by Miroslav of Hum, the brother of Stefan Nemanja. The Miroslav Gospel has many ornamental animals embedded in the text. This piece features two birds. They are painted red, green and gold as in the original.
